Greetings and welcome to Bay Area Christian Counseling. We are providers of mental health, psychological counseling and therapy services.
Our professional counselors are believers and followers of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We are often referred to by some as “born again believers”. We are professionally trained, licensed and insured Clinical Counselors and/or Social Workers. Our counselors have Masters’ Degree training. We are licensed through the appropriate Maryland Boards depending on our type of license.
It is our intention to provide our clients with biblical truth and psychosocial insights that minister to hurting persons and helps them move to personal wholeness, interpersonal competence, mental stability, and spiritual maturity.
What About “Christian/Spiritual” Aspect of Our Center?
We are unashamedly a Christian Counseling Center. However, we have many clients who seek and desire the benefits of our professional training, experience, wisdom and expertise but like to opt out of the spiritual aspects of the counseling. If this describes you, please do not be afraid to seek our counseling because we can and want to help. It is not our policy or desire to harshly push our spiritual beliefs on you or any others. We know this can be highly offensive and it simply does not work. We have an open and gentle approach in the areas of spirituality, respecting the values and beliefs of all persons.
What does it mean to be a Christian and what is Christian counseling? We must see things in this world through the eyes of Jesus. We need to see people as Jesus sees them. We are body, mind, soul and spirit. If all those elements are healthy and working in unison, we have a healthy happy holy person. If they are not, then we believe there is a need for our help. We are goal oriented in that we want to know where the person is hurting or struggling and then apply sound clinical and spiritual counseling to help the client reach their goals.
Our goal is to provide sound professional clinical mental health and counseling services, rooted in biblical truth and ethics, for the Christian community and the community at large. Practicing our God-given spiritual gifts of love, discernment, encouragement, teaching, healing, knowledge, administration, helping, and wisdom.
By continually developing and honing our spiritual gifts coupled with ongoing professional clinical education in the scientific knowledge and professional skills of evaluation, assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning and therapeutic intervention we believe will provide the client with the greatest possibility of reaching their goals and having a positive outcome.
In our practice we will endeavor to treat all people, regardless of age, race, sex, religion, ethnicity, or socio-economic status with dignity, respect, empathy and acceptance. To those in need who have limited financial resources we offer adjusted rates on a sliding scale, on a case by case basis, so more clients can get the help they need.
Finally, by affirming and carefully following the ethics and morals of our Christian faith and the ethics rules and regulations mandated by the state boards that govern our professions, as a counseling center and as individuals, we will always strive to hold to the highest practices and be above reproach in all areas of our lives.
